About the canoe

This 18-foot canoe has the rounded, tumblehome stems typical of many Wabanaki canoes of the late 1800s. The winter bark etching is reminiscent of the many decorated canoes sold by Wabanaki builders during that period in Bar Harbor, on Mount Desert Island, former domain of Chief Asticou in the early 1600s. Inside beam 30”, depth 12 3/4”
